Rear springs

Ok, so I've searched and went through some threads, but never really found the answer that I was looking for. My rear springs are pretty much shot (one is starting to collapse it appears) so I'm in the market for another set. I wouldnt mind a small bit of lift, but I'm hesitating to go 3 because I'm unsure I want to crank the front that much. This is for a 94 with tire carrier. So my options are:

 

Stock Moogs-They are stock, I assume I'll get back what I am currently sagging at, so no questions.

 

AC 1.5 Coils-Anybody have these and can comment? Do they lift a true 1.5? Ride harsh/soft?

 

Old Man Emu appears to make what I have seen as a 3/4 to 1 3/4 depending on which site I have seen it on. Maybe they discontinued a certain line? Anyhoo, anybody comment?

 

JGC's- Now obviously depending on which one you get, you get no/some/lots of lift, but I'm wondering if I take the bigger of the coil that people get the 3 inch from, and cut a coil to go down a bit more.....has anybody done that?

 

I would honestly just buy some junkyard JGC's and try it....but my local junkyards want essentially the same as getting a new set from Rockauto. I am jealous of you guys who have gotten $10 coils, my Pick N Pull wants like 25 per coil!

 

Am I missing any other option? I'm sure I'm missing something. Thanks in advance....

Yes, lift may vary but most seem to like OME suspension products. Down side, pretty pricy...

A coil spring is the same as a lever, the shorter you make it, the stiffer it will be. You'd be better off going with a same diameter (or slightly larger) coil in a longer spring than what is in currently, install them to see what you get and go from there. Remember, they will settle/seat in a bit over a few months also.

I agree on the OME being spendy, and then I noticed AC wants to charge me 40+ to ship their 1.5 coils. That's when OME became a thought. I'm just curious whether they are .75 or 1.75 at this point.

I've run the OME coils for a few years. I can't remember what the cost was, I think around $125 for the set. They are 0.75", I believe the 1.5" is for the R-50 guys. They are a heavier spring rate. I've run mine with spare tire carrier, and a 48" High-lift jack mounted to it, and no sag yet. I like them, but haven't run anything else other than stock, so I can't give you a comparison.

I put the MOOG cargo coils on my wifes 93. they were not painted very well but other than that I really liked the progressive design. They feel great and her back window is not aimed at the ground anymore.
I slid some Thick Wall (3/4"ID?) rubber hose over the top and bottom coil in addition to leaving the factory isolators in place. This gave just about 1/2" of lift but is not really noticable...

I went ahead and got the Moog coils for now. I'm going to wait until Pick N Pull has a half price day to pick up a pair of JGC's to play around with. They should be here tomorrow so I'm looking forward to seeing how much the stock ones sagged.
