Kenmo77
I recently replaced my rack and pinion along with outer tie rod ends on my 97 Pathfinder. All was fine for about a week. Today I heard a weird noise when I was in a turn, then again with a snapping sound coming from behind the steering wheel. Since then my airbag light has been flashing... I pulled the fuse just to make sure I didn't get a deployment but I don't know where to go from there to fix whatever I messed up!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance. Towncivilian
That would be your clock spring (aka spiral cable) that snapped. Does your horn work? How about cruise control?
Kenmo77
I don't have cruise and I haven't tried the horn. I will tomorrow for sure. If that is the problem how hard is it going to be to repair?
Towncivilian
Page RS-9 of the factory service manual has instructions on removal and replacement.

Alkorahil
Yep.........steering angle sensor (aka clock spring) not a cheap part either... should be part number: 25554-0P025 I can get if for you for $433.40 (nissan list: $481.56) I see you are in Roanoke, I am in McKinney. If you want to give me a call tomorrow I can check your VIN and see what part it does use and see what I can do for you.
