Stinka
Ok, so I have a terrano R20, which uses wd21 chassis and suspension. Now I just got me some '97 grand cherokee v8 front springs off ebay, as I just read on here that they will give me 3" on the rear. What do i need to do to the front to get it up 3" ? I read that you can only crank 2" on torsion. So i can get some spacers for the ball joints off ebay : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330684975920?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Will these give me an extra 18mm lift ? As if I crank 2 inch plus the 3/4 inch from these spacers would be fine i think ? What are your thoughts ? Cheers
Stinka
How much longer Are the modded UCA's ? if i got longer bolts, like this: M14 x 60 FINE PITCH 1.5 mm HEX HEAD BOLT BLACK 10.9 X4 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350261307377?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 And some : 10 PACK - M14 FORM A WASHERS SOLID STAINLESS STEEL A2 Thickness 2.5mm Outside diameter 28mm http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150332184513?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Chuck 4 washers on each bolt that would be 10mm extra, what do you think ? ahardb0dy
The modified or aftermarket UCA's are not longer, they are built with the area the ball joint sits in is at a different angle than stock, so when you crank them it keeps the ball joint at a better (or closer) angle to what it was stock with no lift cranked in. The reason why some people need longer bolts is, sometimes the truck may take a lot of spacers behind the UCA shaft to bring the truck back to factory alignment specs. Stinka
Ok mate, cheers What about my 2.5" lift on front ? Will ball joint spacers help me ? Thanks
ahardb0dy
I think like most springs ( the rears) they will eventually settle slightly. I wouldn't go too crazy trying to get the front to match up with the rear. When you crank the front you bring the UCA closer to the bump stops, if you keep cranking the front the UCA wil be sitting on the bumpstop and will not allow the truck any downward suspension travel and it will ride like crap. Not to mention the increased wear on the CV axles, ball joints and the inability to align it.
