ennacac
Does anyone make a CAI like the Volant for the R50 Pathfinder. I had a Volant on my Xterra and it worked out very well for me and an looking to put something similar on my 2002 Pathfinder? The Volant is a closed system, with a high flow filter in a free flow box to keep water and dirt out. What is out there for the R50 Pathfinder that others have used and are happy with? ennacac
Since it looks like Volant doesn't make a product for the R50 Pathfinder, I was thinking about the Pop Charger, any ideas on that? Tom
Tungsten
It's not going to make much difference. Putting one of those CAI kits on only bypasses the silencers and maybe makes the air get sucked in more efficiently, which is where the small extra gain comes from. Other than that the air will still heat up inside the intake plenum before it gets to the combustion chamber.
ennacac
I understand that but on my Xterra, the Volant system gained me about 1-2 mpg on the highway over the stock system, I expect from more efficient air flow. Tungsten
Is it a ram air system by any chance? You can get 1 extra mpg by just using a nicer and cleaner air filter. The gain could have come from simply replacing an old and dirty air filter. Also sometimes ditching the intake silencers may improve throttle response. ennacac
The Volant system is a lot like the rest of the systems such as K&N but the filter in inside a case to keep water off of it and it draws air from behind the fender plastic liner through a hole.
