will a 96 or a 2002 pathfinder transmissioon fit in my 99.5 pathfinder?

I have a 99.5 pathfinder 4x4 and the transmission is on its way out

 

I have found a 96 pathfinder transmisison and a 2002 pathfinder transmission?

 

What is the differance? Will they both fit?

From waht I gather, the 2002 should fit. I'm assuming the 99.5 has the 3.5? I would stick with whichever one has hte same engine as yours now. Only issue may come up in the transfer case. However i'm no expert so id wait for someone to confirm or disprove what i have said.

Its a 99.5 but it still has the 3.3L not the 3.5

I believe 2001+ transmissions have a different bellhousing due to the VQ35DE engine present in those models.

I think the belhousing on the 3.3 is removable I wonder if its a direct bolt up

That should be a direct bolt up.
