Bumper Mounts

Just a heads up that Hardbody D21 and Pathfinder WD21 front bumper mounts will not interchange. I tried to install a D21 tube bumper on my WD21 today and realized that the mounts would not bolt up. The Pathfinder has extruded bottom mounts while Hardbody mounts are straight and flat in the bottom section. Hardbody and Pathfinder mounts are also differently spaced from each other because the D21 bumper mounts would physically not line up with the holes. I was quoted $400 to fab new mounts to fit my Pathfinder so I backed out and scrapped the bumper for some cash. The bumper wasn't exactly in the best condition and it would not be cost or space efficient for me to lug around a 60 lb piece of metal even if I was to sell it.

:scratchhead: my bumper came directly off my HB and bolted it right on my wd21, and that's 93+ bumper/brackets -ordered as a wd21 bumper and HB brackets- that were bolted to a 91 HB then transferred to a 88 wd21

That is really weird... Maybe it worked because you have a body lift? :scratchhead: As far as I know both bumper styles will work on matching style pathfinder mounts or matching style hardbody mounts. If you have a bumper that has the mounts welded in then the mounts will not swap directly for obvious reasons.

all was before the bodylift, after the bodylift I cut/re-welded my stock brackets to make the bumper line up without using the sorry excuse for relocation brackets that were supplied. But that's MY experience and all I can speak from.

Does your frame have those round things sticking out on the sides? Or can you just slide a flat plate in there to use as a mount? I am now thinking the hardbody D21 trucks have the same style mounts as the 2 door WD21s.

pics you asked for (both of right side, left side pics didn't turn out useful at all)

(yea I know the upper bolt was backed out a little, I tightened it after I took the pic)

Like I said brackets were ordered as 93+ HB bolted to a 91 HB then moved to a 88 wd21 later modified to accommodate a 3" bodylift on that 88 wd21

So from the looks of that photo nunya it looks like you have a Pathfinder mount.

I musta had a wHierd setup frame on my HB before this then since as I said my brackets were ordered for a HB before hand as here is the truck that I transferred it from

CRYSTAL029-2.jpg

which had this front end before hand

I really don't know what happened there. If you run a search for hardbody mounts and pathfinder mounts, they are different and don't interchange. Can you take a picture of the hardbody mount inside the wheel well like that too? I'm trying to figure something out here...

unfortunatly I think pics of that frame ain't gonna happen until you let me borrow your Delorean (preferably the Mr.Fusion one so I don't have to hunt for the 1.21 gigawatts power source  )
