tach solutions and cruise control

did any one discover the solution to the dying/spiking tach issue? if so where can I learn myself up on that ? Also, my cruise control (1993 XE) doesn't work. The button had fallen off the switch when I bought it but the guy I bought it from said it had never worked. Any ideas on how I can pinpoint the problem and correct it? I feel like I'm driving an antique!

Thanks all, this site has saved my sanity already and I've only been a member for a week!

There's a vaccuum line going to the CC diaphragm...if that's disconnected your CC won't work...and having a falling-apart switch doesn't help, I'd say.

The tachometer, I dunno. I hear that if that goes out on ya, replacing the guage itself is the only fix.
