TooQForYou
I have two Hella 550s (55w) hooked up to my R50. According to calculations, 110w on a 12 volt system would be 9.16 amps. But I just blew a 20amp fuse. What's going on here?
Precise1
Is it when you turn it on or when it has been on for a while. If it is at first, maybe there is current surge? If it is when it was on for a while, I'd suspect you are grounding out somewhere. Trace the wires to make sure they are dry, tight and not rubbing through anywhere. TooQForYou
Well I had used them a few times without problem. Then the other day they just wouldn't come on, so I guess it happened when I flipped the switch.
Precise1
Replace fuse (maybe it was poorly made) and try again to see if/when it blows. Oh, hey, is this through the fuse box or through a relay with a dedicated inline fuse?? Often fuse box circuts run more than 1 item so you may be overloading it when you turn something on... TooQForYou
I replaced the fuse and flipped the lights on and all works. This is through a relay with a dedicated inline fuse.
TooQForYou
Just blew another 20amp fuse. WTF?! EDIT: I think I'm shorting out somewhere between the fuse and the relay. I'll take a look tomorrow and report back. Edited April 14, 2011 by TooQForYou
