celso Posted February 14, 2011 Share Posted February 14, 2011 well my brother only speaks spanish and is new to the whole internet thing, this is why i signed him up and showed him this site. anyways he just bought a 1987 nissan pathfinder auto tranny and with 88,xxx miles on it. he has a tranny issue where it slips on third gear. ill be reading and helping him out in all aspects of his pathfinder. but thought i would say hi. Ok, doesn't sound like good news, but maybe it is not too late. Here is the key, DO NOT DRIVE IT!! Park it, change out the tranny fluid x2 (to get it out of the torque converter) and bypass the stock radiator (it could be clogged). I recommend installing an aftermarket cooler, plenty of threads here on how to do it, it is easy. You might want to add some Luicas tranny restore also, but it might drive OK after all this has been done, or it might still slip. B Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
