Hi Guys,

 

this is my first post so I hope I have put it in the right sopt.

 

I am the proud new owner of a 2001 Pathfinder LE. its in good shape runs well...

 

BUT.

the Gas mileage is less then I thought. about 300KM I was hopoing for 400-450KM to a tank of 91 Octane.

I have some engine codes.

 

P0160 Oxygen Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 2) - see our "articles" link for additional help with these generic check engine light codes

 

P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

 

P0140 Oxygen Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2) - see our "articles" link for additional help with these generic check engine light codes

 

P1448 EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve Open

 

it runs and drive fine but if I push it, floor it it feel like its not quite getting all the power it should.

 

what i want to know is if I replace the 2 O2 sensors could this well with the poor fuel mileage and lack of power?

Fix the Evap problems first.

IIRC the 2nd o2 sensors (after the cat) do not influence the fuel mixture, but may be there for smog purposes??

Regardless, they need to be checked out.

 

Gross leak and Vent Control Valve obviously doesn't help.

 

Go to the Garage section and the pinned Service Manual thread to download a service manual for your truck which will explain exactly how to troubleshoot these items.

That's a hell of a list. All emissions related with for the most part directly affects fuel mileage. I would replace both O2 sensors and see if that also clears the rest of the codes. The downstream sensor should always directly mirror the upstream sensor, it's a testing system for the catalytic converter. If the two consistently show different readings, it means your cat is failed/failing. A leaky charcoal/EVAP canister can cause some pretty sheitty mileage as well.

 

Sometimes one code will start a chain reaction.
