Security System?

My 95 SE 4WD has a 3 way security button on center console. On, Neutral? and off. Can any one explain. The system seems to work...once you open a door it gives you a warning. Is this OEM? Can I add a remote keyless system? Thanks

The alarm positions in the 95 SE are OFF, Impact OFF and ON. If you post a pic, I can tell if it is OEM

That's the factory switch. Without the keyfob, you have to lock the doors from the inside, you should see the light on the switch blink fast, it arms after 30 seconds.

 

When unlocked by the key, you have 30 seconds to put the key in the ignition and turn it to on to deactivate the alarm.

 

All five doors have sensors, including the hood, along with a shock sensor.

 

with the keyfob the alarm is activated/deactivated instantly. if yours didn't come with a keyfob, like mine (heck, mine didn't even come with the alarm computer for some reason!) you can purchase this one!

also, if you activate the alarm with the keyfob, and unlock the door with the key, it will sound immediately.

 

You can still lock the truck from the inside, which activates the alarm, and press the button on the keyfob, it will make the single beep confirmation and set immediately and will need to be deactivated with the keyfob.

 

i think it's an amazing system for being stock. And the alarm is a real attention getter, the horn is deafening if right next to the truck, especially if the hood is open. ROFL.
