derrick719 Posted October 11, 2010 Share Posted October 11, 2010 hey im doing huge job on my truck a frame swap. i want to repaint the frame as the last one rotted out. but i have no air tools the compressor i can use looks so old it will blow up. anyways can i remove and reinstall the torsion bars just with a wrench and no impact gun? silverton Posted October 11, 2010 Share Posted October 11, 2010 Be sure to make Right and Left on the bars, as they don't like to twist in the opposite direction, breakage! I replaced my torsion bars with no air/electric impact, but I don't live in the rust belt. I would soak with plenty of penetrant before hand. It also makes things go a lot easier if you grease the threads on the adjusting bolt when you reinstall, I forgot to do this when replacing an automatic transmission and a small piece of debris galled up the treads and obliterated them entirely.
