What to look at next?

Hey all,

Well I'm going back to Nissan on Monday to fix the "popping" noise coming from the front end (most likely the suspension). I was there yesterday and they said it was the front right sway bar. They replaced the bar and I heard the noise when I got home. So long story short, I am going back to those f_ers on Monday morning. I have to reproduce the noise for the tech for the 100th time. What should I have them look at next? -thnkboutit-

1. Torsion bar shifting against frame?

2. Loose front axle pivot bolts?

3. Brakes?

4. UCA and LCA bushings?

5. Crossmember to frame bolts?

6. Upper and lower ball joints?

I want them to look at all 6, but does anyone have a starting point?

Thanks,

~Jason

5. Crossmember to frame bolts

Thats where I would start, I had a similar noise, check Jim's web page for the how to and how much, and did it myself. Turned out 2 of them wereso loose you could spin the bolt inplace, so I tightened them, problem solved. Think its about 100 ft-lbs if I remember correctly. Good Luck

Well,

My noise can only be heard at certain times. I think this is due to the fact that I live in Boston and never get a quite moment. As far as when, I enter my parking garage at an angle (steep slope left) and I hear it there as my front sinks and as my rear is still elevated. When I'm parking in the garage, I hear the noise when stopping and turning the wheel to park. Usually this is the only place I hear it, but I'm sure it happens all over.

1. Torsion bar shifting against frame? -> 01 does not have a torsion bar

2. Loose front axle pivot bolts? -> ok

3. Brakes? -> did not check

4. UCA and LCA bushings? -> no UCA, LCA ok

5. Crossmember to frame bolts? ->ok

6. Upper and lower ball joints? -> no upper, lower ok

mine comes from my steering stablizer bracket, the one that's bolted on to the frame i think. when i had my friend look at it he said that the bracket is moving and bending. i took a look and it did make a little since, i'm going to beef that thing up. by the way, do you have a steering stablizer on yours? stock or u added? i'm pretty i know what your talking about i have the popping noises when i turn. but other than that, i really i don't care. i beat that truck up so it should be making nosies.

another thing, does the popping noise come when the trucks just sitting and you steer the wheel left to right, right to left?

Thats funny that you mention if it makes noise when sitting still and turning the wheel, that is the first thing I tried when I got in the car this morning: No it does not make the noise.

It only makes noise when I am parking (back or forward) with a slight lean in the body. It was quite loud last night. Also thinking it might be the brake dust shields? But this is more of a "clank", and usually the dust shields are thin and make a different noise.

NOt sure if the 01 has a stabalizer. I have barley taken this car off the road. A couple times in Cape Cod but it was not hardcare, just driving on a dirt area.

This is insane. I know there is probably "nothing" wrong with the car but the noise just make me insane every night.
