Timing Belt

Local mechanic is asking $650 to change the timing belt, water pump, etc. including all parts and labor. Is this reasonable? Sounds expensive.

Thanks.

If he uses quality parts and warranties it, yes, that is about right.

When I did mine, it was about $300 in parts but I replaced everything with Nissan parts...

Sounds cheap to me, most quotes I've heard are around $700 for the timing belt alone. If you are ambitious you could tackle it yourself there's a very good write up by doctorbill. Can be done for around $100 if you do it yourself. Just think all of the alone time you would be able to spend with her.

Interesting, my local Nissan dealer quoted $500 for just the belt.
