Do I Need Wheel Spacers?

Recommended Posts

i just ordered new wheels and tires online. the wheels i had chosen were 16x8 with 3.75 backspacing. 4wheelparts just called me and said that this was an "unusual" backspacing, and it is custom order and would take 4-6 weeks. since i needed my tires and wheels ASAP, the only other option was 4.25 backspacing on the same wheel. i have heard this will not clear the strut, because you shouldn't go over 4". if it hits the strut is my only other option wheel spacers? are wheel spacers for the rear also? thanks

It does depends on the tire itself...Some company will have their 265/75r16 measure slight different than another. On my rig I could have gone without but I was about 1/8th inch of the coil which made me worried when the tire would take expansion at high speed... So I have put 1.25inch spacer... You best bet would be to go through the tread that was made specifically for that.
