ejin4499
Which one? I know many screw driver tricks. Put the screw driver blade on a hard part of the engine ,like the top of a injector, then put the handle up to your ear. It lets you get a better idea of where the noise is coming from. I had a ticking noise that I was worried about until I tried that and it ended up just being my injectors. You can also try that to identify which lifter is tapping as well by putting the driver on to the valve cover. It's a neat trick for getting to know the noises of your truck. Kingman
Random thought. I replaced a transmission in an '88 and also fixed an annoying ticking that came from the AIV dealy or some hose around it. It was obnoxious under load.
Tungsten
Can you give me some more details on that? Which part is it close to? That just might be it. I found out that it's not spark knock because I can hear the normal concessional spark knock come in on top of that sound. Can you give me more details on that? The sound also comes and goes and does get obnoxious under load. It's not rod knock or a stud tick because those can get loud and you always hear them and I heard those before and will definitely say that isn't the right sound.
