Trimming Rear fenders

If i trim my rear fenders will will there be a gap between the metal on the outside and that on the inside? I guess what i'm trying to say are the pinch welds on that 1/2'' lip that's folded around. I was going to trim them along the line of the factory fender flares. Does any of this make sense or does someone have pictures of there rear fenders they have trimmed. Thanks in advance.

Not so much a gap, but they will be separated. You can either make a new pinch or get some trim and cover it. I put some chrome trim on my front ( which I dont care for). I'm probably going to put the flares back on. On the rear i just sprayed the new bare metal with some Rustoleum and put the flares back on.
