Mystery Ground

Ok so I was up under the hood of my baby the other weekend installing new bushings when I came across what I think is a grounding wire.

It's connected to the body in the area between the intake filter and the windshield fluid tank.

I have a missing bolt on the heat shield on my header and thought maybe it came from there except it does not reach that far.

Than I thought it may be from the alternator but after talking to a few friends they say that my alternator would not work if that was so. And my baby runs jus fine.

Than someone suggested that it may be for an option for the Pathfinder that was not equipped on my rig.

All I know is that it goes to something, I don't know but would like to know what that something is.

I don’t want to disconnect it if it has a use and would prefer it not to jus dangle there if it goes to something.

Any ideas?
