Well day one of trans removal. I have a 1994 pathfinder 4X4 with a VG30e engine and a bad auto trany. I've been using a lift, which has made the job alot easier. I got pretty much everything takin off but I am having problems getting at the torque converter bolts to remove them and removing the speedo sensor. I've done some searching on both and can only find a write up on how to remove a starter which I think will give me good access to the torque converter bolts. However, I am having problems removing the speedo sensor. I am afraid if I try to pull off the speedo sensor it will break it. Any suggestions on the speedo sensor removal or removal of the torque converter bolts?

you are correct in how to access the TC bolts. Get that starter out and there may even be another plate you can remove to get better access to the flywheel (or whatever the hell it's called). Hand crank the engine around to get at each bolt.

As for the speed sensor (assuming you mean the rev sensor) I believe it's a single bolt next to the sensor that you will have to remove then pull the sensor out. If you break it, it's only $70 or so.

Maybe I named it wrong. It is on the passengers side of the transmission on the side. It has 3 wires coming from it going up to the floor board. I was able to remove a small just over a quarter size piece of metal that showed the 3 wires. This looks like a back side of a 90 deg wall plug with metal plate. I assumed its the speed sensor or speed cable. Not sure.
