Starter question

Hey guys, does anyone know if a starter off of a 1990 pathfinder will fit on a 87? I would just look and see but I only have one close and the other is yet to be picked up from about 100 miles away.... as always, TIA

yep...the only thing is you may have to rig up the signal for the solenoid if its different...I had a 95 in my 87 but the 95 was a 2 prong instead of 2 prong so I just did some R&D with the battery and starter out of the truck to see which was the right post for the + signal and then just clipped my harness and crimped on a spade connector that fit the pin

I think the old signal wire connectors carried the ground with them (hence 2 lugs) but the newer ground through the casing

yea...I guess that's a better explanation...i assumed that and probed with a multimeter and figured it out and i had decided if the ground wasn't good i'd just make a little ground strap but it wasnt needed

Thanks for the help, the plugs were different but someone already made an adapter on the new one I put on the 87, so it worked out great! Put it on and the pathy cranked right up!
