96path4x4
I hate to re-hash this, but I would like to eliminate any problems before I take it to the dealer. I just checked the Rear end fluid and it was a little low. The car is a 96 4x4 with LSD. I did use the right fluid. I don't hear anything at straight line acceleration. The only time I hear the noise is when I turn left or right. I took it to a cul du sac and kept going in circles trying to listen in. It seems it is coming from the rear tires, it sounds like a winding noise. hard to describe. I put the car in 4H and I could feel the 4wd kicking in. I heard that Nissans do make noise but I just want to make sure. Any help is greatly appreciated. By the way, does anyone know where I can get a used center wheel cap? Thanks. sw
when you topped up the fluid was there much metallicy crap on the plug?
96path4x4
Thanks for the reply. No the fill plug was clean. I am starting to think that the noise I am hearing is the clutches of the LSD.
lewisnc100
I've seen several bottles of gear lube that say LSD compatible on the front and the details on the back say LSD compatible for top off only, what brand did you use? Ebay seems to be the best place for center caps, I got 4 for the price of 1 at the dealer.
