That's incredible. I had the front ones replaced twice. The first time I used a cheap brand so they didn't last. The second time around,I used a better brand and they have been great. My neighbor has about 100k on the front brakes of his Mazda 3, but I didn't believe him. Never thought front brakes last that long.

I have a 96 LE with 134k on the odo and the rear brakes have never been replaced. I had them inspected about 10k miles ago and they were fine. Is that common?
-
I don't know if this helps, but I have about 134k on mine and I have changed it twice so far. Both times, I used Valvoline High Mileage Dexron III and not the Nissan D Matic. Truck is running great, no issues.

Thanks for all the info. I replaced the Bank 1 Sensor 2 about 3 years ago and it was breeze because I borrowed the tool from Autozone. I plan on doing the same with this one, I just hope the rust on it isn't too bad. 134k on the odo and still running strong.

I got a reading on my check engine light and it read bad O2 sensor Bank 2, #2. I am assuming that would be the one on the Driver Side and after the Catalytic Converter. Is that correct? Also, there was a Knock sensor code. The knock sensor code has been coming on forever, has anyone else had that?

I have a 96 Path. I used to get about 17mpg and now I am barely getting over 14.5. Is this normal? I don't have oversized tires and I don't drive hard or on hills. My engine light has been on for quite a while and it is the O2 sensor. I already replaced one and another went bad. Any thoughts if they are worth replacing? and how much do they affect mileage? The factory replacement from Autozone is $95 or if I am willing to splice it myself, I can pay less.

I have noticed that the pedal sticks a bit when taking off. It only does it from rest not while driving. It is a bit annoying because it makes the car jerk when taking off from a dead stop. I tried cleaning the body butterfly and sprayed some lubricant on the cables. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions? Thanks

I got the manufacturer "BOSAL" to pay for the muffler assembly and I agreed to pay shipping. They are also paying for the resonator. I think when it is all said and done, it will end up costing around $200 and it will be back to OEM specs. Thanks for the replies. Ray

I found out today that my muffler is under warranty but the tail piple which includes the resonator is not. That piece is almost $200 plus labor. They are telling me the truck will be extremely loud without it. Has anyone run without one? And is there a cheap fix? I have 130K and I just spent $800 on tires and AC...I am not sure the whole truck is worth more than $2k, though it is rust free.

I am in GR. I am hoping that the last one who did the work TUFFY would stand behind it. Otherwise, I may be looking at running straight pipes and getting rid of the cat converter. I would hate to spend $700 again.

I have a 96 SE 4WD, this is the 3rd system that I am ready to install. Is there any advice on a cheap replacement. I have 130K on it and I don't want to spend another $700 to replace it. I know the muffler shop is going to want to replace my cat converter too. Any help is appreciated.

My 96 has 130K on it. It sits outside and I live in MI. The last exhaust system (Cat Back) was installed in 2004. Now it has holes in it and is rusted. I don't want to replace the Cat converter and our state does not do emissions. Any ideas on a cheap fix? Any help is appreciated.

A little help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same truck as you do and I had to replace mine around 70K. I just installed aftermarket generic struts and disconnected the switch. The truck just turned 130K and it has been great. Definitely not worth the investment to install OEM. Hope this helps. -
I am ready to change the tranny fluid on my 96 path, the dealer wants $9qt for the D Matic fluid. Is this the only one that should be used? The truck has 115K on it and it has been changed once already. Can I use Dexron III? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the reply. No the fill plug was clean. I am starting to think that the noise I am hearing is the clutches of the LSD.

I hate to re-hash this, but I would like to eliminate any problems before I take it to the dealer. I just checked the Rear end fluid and it was a little low. The car is a 96 4x4 with LSD. I did use the right fluid. I don't hear anything at straight line acceleration. The only time I hear the noise is when I turn left or right. I took it to a cul du sac and kept going in circles trying to listen in. It seems it is coming from the rear tires, it sounds like a winding noise. hard to describe. I put the car in 4H and I could feel the 4wd kicking in. I heard that Nissans do make noise but I just want to make sure. Any help is greatly appreciated. By the way, does anyone know where I can get a used center wheel cap? Thanks. Ray

I have a 96 4x4 with about 95K on it. It has never been off-roaded. Lately, when I take off making a right or left turn (in 2WD mode), I get a weird noise and it seems like the rear end is sliding out. I just replaced the Rear differential fluid with 80W-90 and I don't hear any sounds at any speeds. I have driven as hard as 90mph and it drives great. Curious to know if anyone has a clue. Also, what is a good gas mileage for a Pathfinder, I am getting about 20mpg. Lastly, does anyone know where all the lube points are on 96? Thanks,

Hi everyone, I am new to this and am hoping to get a straight answer. My dealer can't seem to tell me. Is Dexron II or III acceptable to use in a 96 Pathfinder 4x4? or should I only use the Nissan DMatic transmission fluid? Any help is greatly appreciated? Ray
