96path4x4
I have a 96 4x4 with about 95K on it. It has never been off-roaded. Lately, when I take off making a right or left turn (in 2WD mode), I get a weird noise and it seems like the rear end is sliding out. I just replaced the Rear differential fluid with 80W-90 and I don't hear any sounds at any speeds. I have driven as hard as 90mph and it drives great. Curious to know if anyone has a clue. Also, what is a good gas mileage for a Pathfinder, I am getting about 20mpg. Lastly, does anyone know where all the lube points are on 96? Thanks,
deej
If you can, get a "Haynes Manual". I've been getting about 20 mpg. Does your Pathy have LSD (limited slip diff)? There should be a little orange sticker on the diff. If you changed the lube and your diff is LSD and you used a lube w/o LSD additive you may be in trouble. lewisnc100
20mpg is good since it came rated at 19mpg highway for the 4X4. The only lube point on yours is on the front driveshaft just in front of the transfer case.
