97pathfinder4x4
I have 31's and they rub. Ive heard that backspacing would help but idk anything about it. How do you do it? or will it even help thanks
MY1PATH
"backspacing" Is a measurement taken on the rim. It is the distance from the inside edge of the rim to the boltcircle. so a bigger number means your wheels stick out less. you can decrease backspacing(not reccmended by me) by adding wheel spacers or shims but you can only increase it by buying differant rims. If you are really concerned about it you can try differant wheels Hopefully somone on here with and r50 can tell you what backspacing provides the least rub. I trimmed a little off my fender flares and have "0" rub, but then my WD21 came stock with 31"(on 15x7" 3.75" backspace) and I don't know if that was an option for the R50. Geoff57
31 x 10.5 x15s can be used with standard suspension but the distance from the flange mounting face ( goes up against the hub) to the outer edge of the rim needs to be 4 inches (100mm) or less on a 7" wide rim. It would be better to change your rims rather than trying to space them out. Geoff Edited December 15, 2008 by Geoff57
MY1PATH
so he needs a 4-3.75" backspace on the R50 If your gonna get new wheels I reccomend getting some 15x8. Its not reqired for 31x10.5 tires but it will make balancing easier as well as even out the footprint for longer treadlife
tekazgtr1984
For the R50, backspacing can be as minimal as 3.75"? I was told at least 4". To be safe, my wheels are 5" backspacing but they're 16x8. Does that make any difference?
Fukinitupagain
I've said it before & I'll say it again, I run 32x11.5 on 15x8 Rockcrawlers with a real 3.68" of BS.
