VQ35DE questions

The power valve screw issue scares the crap out of me...

would a 350Z (or maxima) intake manifold (possibly just upper, on the pathfinder lower?) work in place of a pathfinder manifold? I know low end torque would be sacrificed (but it may ahve more top end), but would it work? I was also thinking of maybe fabricating just an upper manifold, like a plenum with velocity stacks inside of it?

I dont mind some fabrication, or adapter plates for the TB if necessary.

Just a vague idea at this point and looking for some ideas.

I know its not that big of a deal to loctite them, but I usually cant leave well enough alone.

Manual VQ intake manifolds don't have power valve screws, that would probably be the simplest solution, and they have 10 more hp and i would assume more torque...

Hmm, thats good to know. Maybe I will look into that. although I'm sure it would be cheaper to just remove my power valves and weld the holes from the rods., esp if its basically the same manifold.

Maybe you could find one in a junkyard for cheap? I would like to know what is different on them to allow the manual to have more hp...

The extra hp is probably in the tuning more than anything else. I an audi person and I know people change the their 2.8L V6 computer coding from the A4 tune to the A6 tune for more HP (its like 8-10 IIRC) probably in the timing maps.

Makes sense...well def. let us know if you do something with the 350Z since there are multiple superchargers available for it (future interest for my 3 day old 01 5 speed)

Yeah, I sorta wish mine were a 5 speed. if (when?) I ever blow up the auto I'll likely do the conversion. as for a supercharger, it wouldnt be too hard to rig it up im sure. the blocks are the same so the mount would work then it would just be figuring out accessories if they arent the same layout. the hardest aprt would be tuning... I am sure it is quite different from the pathfinder to the 350z, and a custom tune would be pretty expensive. I wnat to talk to the local dyno shop and see what he has to say... Guys name is Tony chick and he does WONDERS for audis/VW/Porsche cars, I even think I ahve some free dyno time because I sold him a turbo manifold for really cheap a few months back.

Although I think the best way to go would to be to get an eaton and fab up/modify the stock lower manifold to accept it, and use a boost refrencing FPR and a custom tune or just go ghetto and use a rising rate FPR and tune that ona dyno with a wideband.

Oh if I only had the time/money.
