in cabin airfilter question

i have one of those in cabin filters that is somewhere near the glove compartment.

 

do i need to remove the glove compartment to change it or is it beneath it?

 

can i buy these somewhere besides the nissan dealership to save money?

yeah to get to them you have to remove the glove box which is really easy on the bottom of the glove box are two plastic pins and you simply pull them out and the assembly will swing away. once that is out you can get the to filters. as far as buying them at autozone or something like that i'm not sure since i havent replaced mine yet but you could call and ask

also you need to remove the plastic panel behind the glove box which is just a few phillips screws, and also remove the upper latch for the glove box (2 phillips screws)

 

The OEM Nissan filters can be had for around $35 at the dealership, part # 999M1-VP003 (99-04 R50)

 

 

You can find knock off filters on ebay for under $25 shipped but they are a lower quality filter. I bought a cheap one once only to throw it in the garbage when I saw what a cheap copy it was.
