Outside temperature reading

Hi All,

I noticed on my 98SE that the outside temperature reading is sometimes inaccurate.

I also read on the web that Nissan released a service bulletin about this issue, they require to buy some new parts and change them next to the sunroof controls...

The problem is that here these parts are not available and I cannot order them from abroad...

Is there anything I can do in order to have a more accurate reading?

Anyone have a fix for it? I'd really appreciate it.

Thankyou so much.

The sensor that sits on the front of the radiator support is one of several "ambient temp sensors" and can be bought from a parts website from a similar year maxima for about $25 US...this is the LOWEST price I have found anywhere ( other than a bone yard!)!

You will most def. want to get the OE part...I tried several other sensors that all made the gauge read very low (-14F)and wrong!

Thanks for the reply, but I read in the service bulletin that other parts needs replacing also on the inside of the cabin.

It's not urgent as my readings are off by a couple degrees max which isn't a problem really. I just wanted to know if someone has worked on this issue :)

Thanks again!

I don't have one! I didn't even know that in 96-99 that was an option. All I do is stick my head out the window & if the air feels hot, I assume that its hot out. Conversely if I stick my head out & it feels cold, I assume its cold...
