anyone ever get rid of some of the emissions crap

Has anyone taken the charcoal canister and the other smog stuff that clutters up the drivers front fender area?

If so, any issues? Run the same; better? I dont have any issue with getting an inspection sticker and would love to clean it up some.

I unplugged mine and capped all the lines to it. Runs about the same.

did you take everything out, or just uplug it. I wanted to take it all out. It would make it much cleaner looking under the hood.

You need the manifolds and such due to backpressure needs.

Dunno how 88 did it, but I tried removing the charcoal canister and capped the lines and had a vacuum problem nightmare. Must've goofed up somewhere. I did however remove all the AIV stuff without a hitch.

AIV? Air injection valve? Is that the big solonoid looking thing in front of the canister?

air idle valve and yea it should be a solenoid

I removed both the charcoal canister and EGR system from my 93. Haven't had any problems at all, and it was nice to get rid of some of those vacuum lines.

Well, I took it all off. The AIV thing fell apart when I took it out. I'm sure it wasnt doing me any good in the condition it was it. It sure looks cleaner too; lots more room. Seems to run just the same.

i just started cutting the stuff out of mine to put a dual battery setup in. i had no problems. if anything it ran better.
