Stearing Wheel replacement

Hi everyone,

Over the last year I saw that my steering wheel (tan color) is deteriorating meaning that the tan is no longer tan but rather black. It seems that the lining is coming off. So I'm looking around for a replacement steering wheel. My question is, since my Pathfinder is a '03 will it only accept '03 steering wheels or will other years work as well? Would a steering wheel from a QX4 work (the one with the wood grain)?

Thanks.

And to add to that, i have a 97, will the newer steering wheels fit on my year? Or is there any way to smooth out the part thats wearing away? Mine has the leather wheel, but instead of wearing away like my dads Ford, my wheel is like crumbling apart, and on hot days it leaves a residue on my hands. I don't mind just smoothing it out, i just hate the feel of it all crumbled away.

There is no reason that a QX4 would not work, I am sure that the airbag setup is the same...there just may be more functions on the QX than on the pathfinder (stereo or whatever) that would be about it!

As far as a 97 goes....I would think that you could go forward also, what you guys need to do is find the numbers for the "clock spring" inside the steering colums for the vehicles that you want to swap into and see if they match...if nothing else get a real picture of them and see if they are physically the same...the rest is easy!

I have an Audi A4/A6 Volkswagon Jetta/Beetle/Passat/GTI/Golf clockspring in my hand that fits all of these vehicles.
