Just thought I'd toss this up for everyone to read, just in case. The subject DOES come up a lot.

Am laughing, wish this forum and info would have been around the first time i had to replace my timing belt, the second time was when I had to replace the water pump... decided that would save me headaches later on. I can suggest to any of you with higher mileage pathy's... do them both at once.. it was less than 10,000 miles between my timing belt and water pump going.

AC took the link down after I changed a few of the pictures. Sorry. The water pump's pretty straight-forward...got a Chilton's book?

DustyDevil is very right. If you remove the fan/fan clutch from the waterpump and reinstall it, it will have a different balance. If your waterpump is old, often times it will accelerate the wear on the bushing. I've changed many a waterpump that was aged but still worked just because I was there and didn't want to return 6 months later.

-study- does this problem (balance and bushings) apply if the water pump is new but the other parts are the originals?

What problem? We're just basically saying, if it's all taken apart and you're doing 3/4 of the work already, go the extra 25% and make it all new while you can so you don't have to do it all over 10k down the road.

Can't, it went bye-bye. AC ruined it for everybody! That is, after I altered the pics in the thread a bit... *snicker*
