We have updated our reliability stats for the Pathfinder (on our redesigned site) to include owner experiences through September 30, 2011.

 

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

 

2003: 50, better than average

 

2002: 71, better than average

 

2001: 133, about average

 

2000: 57, better than average, other our reliability stats suggest this one isn't accurate

 

1998: 115, about average

 

1997: 125, about average

 

In all cases except the 2001 the same sizes are again small, which likely explains much of the variation from year to year.

They discontinued the older generations due to lack of feedback.

Partly lack of feedback. But in general we've decided to go back 15 model years. The older cars get, the more how they've been driven and maintained affects their reliability. Once you get back 16+ years the quality of the original car might not even be the most important variable.
