Nissan3
I replaced the diff fluid on my 03 pathy about 4 months ago/8000 km. I went to nissan to get all my fluids, they parts guy gave me 75w-85 MTF and a bottle of AC delco LSD additive for my LSD. Just wondering is this ok to use? I know the manual says 80w-90 for both diffs. any input would be appreciated.
88pathoffroad
I think that'd be fine.
Nissan3
ok cool. Also does nissan even have there own LSD oil or additive. I thought it was weird for nissan to give me stuff from ac delco
RWC5S2
I have been told by folks that actually rebuild rear ends that you need both LSD Oil and the LSD Additive to properly maintain the LSD. Something about the discs needing all the friction in the LSD oil they can get. It is supposed to make them last much longer. Any how, that is what I did and it works great. FUELER
AC Delco???? Thats weird. Pennzoil is "factory filled" for all 96-04 Nissan Pathfinder / Infiniti QX4, says so here http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&...yeExIGhWkvkVleA The Nissan dealer by my house only uses / sells Pennzoil diff fluid. They sell it for $9 a quart. I don't have an LSD, but the bottle says it is compatible with LSD. I purchased the fluid at a normal auto parts store and the same exact stuff was $3 a bottle, versus $9/bottle at the dealer. I forgot the exact weight but i can go look at a bottle. I think it was like 75w90 or so.
Orangetang
If you read the bottle and it says GL-5, it's already safe, and no need for additive.
