skibum
2001 PF with low miles/kms and the passenger side front spring snapped, looks rusted right through, it looks like it's been fatigued for quite some time. I don't off road with the vehicle, i have hit the normal pot holes and bumps that any vehicle i've had but i've never ever replaced a spring before. Nissan won't warranty the part and at over $200 cdn plus labour and parts it hurts. My neighbourhood does have speed bumps but the if that was the cause then the drivers side should go not the passenger side because speed bumps taper on the passenger side. My undergroung parking is a very tight turn to the right and down a hill with a bump and parking is tight too. and this is when it finally broke, just making a simple tight turn. Has anyone had to replace springs because of failure? pssd
88pathoffroad
That's not a common problem, no. I'd say you have a defective spring. The dealership should warranty that sort of thing if they're worth their salt...even if just to keep someone happy.
skibum
The dealer is lousy, by far, i will send a complaint to Nissan Canada and see what they do. Being a 25yr driver and car enthusiast, and i've never seen it before... what is the normal way people break springs?
88pathoffroad
They don't. That's really uncommon, I've never heard of a newer vehicle actually breaking a coil spring before.
mikesmaximase
I've never heard of any vehicle breaking a coil spring before. Leaf springs, yes I have heard of that, but not coils. Good luck with the dealership.
