Brendan91
OKK long time since I've posted here since it's been a long time since I had a problem. 1991 Pathfinder SE 3.0 V6 Manual The gist of the problem I can no longer shift into reverse, almost like there is a block keeping it from shifting in. Gears 1-5 work fine, with no change in sound or noise. Now there is a little wire hanging loose under the tranny, which I had not noticed before. My main question before I send this off to a mechanic on monday is, could that little wire be causing the block? Whenever I went over 10-15 mph forward it always felt like there was a block on reverse and 1st gear keeping you from doing something stupid and blowing out your gear box. I went thru previous posts and didn't find anything =/ Anything at all will help. - Brendan
88pathoffroad
Sounds like something internal has let go. There's nothing that should prevent shifting into reverse on a manual trans aside from forward movement.
nige
my friend had an older chev corsica that he thought the gearbox broke on him. When he took the boot off, he discovered the nuts holding the shift plate had come loose and the plate had moved, blocking the stick from getting into reverse, but I am not too familiar with manual transmission pathfinders
