Bad Tie Rod Ends?

I got an alignment today and the shop says the inner tie rods are loose. I held on to the tie rod while the guy shook the tire and I did feel a slight bit of s loose slack.

They quoted $300 for a repair, 2 new inner tie rods and alignment.

Is there any truth to this? I can't feel anything bad while driving.

What do you suggest?

They're not hard to do. You can get a full set of inner and outer tie-rods for both sides, with boots for about $160. I had to replace both the inner and outers because the adjuster nuts had siezed on mine, and they could not be separated.
