both of my front struts are shot. i am broke and cannot afford to have a shop replace them. how hard are they to do myself? would one of those haynes manuals be very helpful or no?

Yeah, a haynes manual is infinitely helpful. Unfortunately, I did not do my struts, only the shocks. I don't have a spring compressor, so I decided to let pep boys handle it. I ended up getting it done for about 70 bucks, because someone screwed up and told me the wrong low price, so I held them to it :D But looking at the front struts, my guess is that it is an all day procedure, not for the non-mechanical type either
