Mysterious chatter

So I have a mysterious chatter (gurgly) that happens at lower speed/coming to a stop and I don't know where it is coming from???

 

When coming to a stop it happens most frequently (back pressure?), and seems to be somewhat intermittent. I had the passenger side exhaust manifold studs addressed last week and the excessive exhaust noise on that side has gone away.

 

The transmission seems to be shifting fine (reverse works great too). When it is chattering...I can put the pathy into park and it goes away and idols quietly. It really is most noticeable at lower speeds (below 15mph)...and I can't seem to tell if the noise is happening or not at higher speeds, but it seems to go away.

 

Any insight on where this noise may be coming from/what it is???

Check and make sure your exhaust system is not hitting anywheres. Sometime this can sound like something different than a rattle. You said they addressed your stud issue. They might have moved something just enough so that it's rubbing up against something. Try shaking your exhaust system and see if it hits anywhere (when it's cold ofcourse )

 

It could also be that you had a gasket that was ready to go and when they moved your exhaust around to fik your mahifold problem they moved it around just enough to make it leak.

Check your exhaust heat shields for rattling, and check your exhaust hangers for cracked welds...(the mounts) both of these could likely lead to your problem.....maybe something has rusted and rattled loose. but my exhaust had a gurgling sound.....was real evident at the drive through window (where the sound bounced off the wall) just an old system that was clogging up (cat converter)....replaced, no more noise.....
