Manual Hubs 1995 Pathy

Was wondering if someone could tell me what harm if any happens if you have your manual hubs set to LOCK position and having the transfer case in 2WD? And vice versa, if you had the hubs set to FREE and the the t-case set to 4x4? I have just purchased a set of Warn hubs and was wondering if there were any answers to this? I have just broke the second freewheeling clutch thing in the autohub on the same side. I was not even 4x4ing. Here's a pic of it, and when this breaks when you slow down you hear the other side trying to clik into 4x4 even when your not calling it on. So i'm trying these out for a go.

In 2WD, the hubs will rotate the CV's and front diff while you're driving, which contributes to slightly harder steering in some cases but not much else. If you try to shift on the fly with the hubs locked you'll most likely get some grinding from the t-case because the front driveshaft is already spinning in 2WD with the hubs locked. Stop before going to 4x4.

With the hubs unlocked in 4WD, the CV's will simply spin inside the hubs with no effect and you'll still be in 2WD.
