Alarm question

Hello,

 

Starting yesterday, it appears that the factory alarm will not disable using the key in the drivers door, resulting in the alarm going off. We are able to turn off the the alarm by unlocking the tail gate, but it is really annoying.

 

Any suggestions on what to look for or repair?

I would check the driver door lock mechanism and the wires or switches/contacts there that the alarm system uses. Or, you could just use the clicker instead of the key.

I will pull the door panel and have a look, was just curios to see if this was a common problem, but I couldn't find any posts on it.

side note: We do not have keyless entry.

Try putting it in the passenger door to deactivate it. If it works, then tear apart the other door and check the key switch.
