partpathfinder
I just read this post and had to chime in. I was a trucker for 5 years and now I am a truck mechanic and I am a big radio operator. and everything ya'll said about the swr meters are correct. But the ones from radio shack for $9.00 are fine for small radios. I tried to get my pc 78 in the whole where the factory cd player and it would not fit ,as far as external speaker placement, mount it on the map lights on the ceiling you can hear it good and it is out of the way. Swrs are tuned by length so top loaded antennas are the easyest to tune. but remember fiberglass breaks easy if it is cold it is worse. And make sure you have a good wave length,3/4 to a full wave is all I will run, but I only run a 4 foot stainless sping mounted and 18 foot of coax and usally there are no adjustments needed. If anyone need anything I have books and extra part and a few extra radios just let me know.
