96-99 Bumper Question

Hey,

 

I'm in the process of replacing the chrome 'bumper ends' on my '99 SE, and I'm taking the whole front bumper off to do it (I was told that's what you have to do).

Now, ALL the bolts have been removed and it's just sort of dangling there held on by a plastic clip on each side. Now, it looks exaactly the same as the diagram below does, but it just WON'T come off. I've yanked on it as hard as I can and it just shakes the whole suv.

 

Does anyone have any idea why these two stupid clips are giving me such a hard time? Also, I'm stuck here right now, and I need the vehicle tomorrow morning ...but I'm not putting it back together without getting it off and putting the new ends on.

kick it, or just pull hard straight foward, once its lose and the bumper is about 1 inch out, you have to tilt it up and then pull foward.

It worked! Well the clips need to be pry'd out a little bit toun 'clip' them ....and then it just slides off.
