wheel spacers

I did a site search and didn't get results regarding wheel spacers. I was wondering if anyone has done this??

I have not tried them myself, but i have heard they are not a good idea, especially of you wheel a lot.. they don't hold up too well to the stress.

this is just some of what i've heard from hardcore wheelers. i'm sure someone who has had experience with them will chime in

ive put 1/2 spacers on a 1976 ford elite (family version of the turino) it got stret tire that were 8in wide and were hiting the wheel wells. they dont cover the whole hub so you reduse the surface area of the rims stbility. fine for a pavement pounder bad for and kind of twisting or bending from off roading

if it makes a difference...i'm far from a hard core wheeler. my offroad consists of old rutted logging roads and lots of snow.

 

to be totally honest...i just love the wide mean look. i'm getting new rubber and figured maybe do this at the same time...

Why dont you just get new rims also with a wider back spaceing. :cool2:

Wheel spacer adapter (ADAPTER) is okay. These bolt up, then give you new bolts for your wheels to mount to. A cheaper wheel spacer (not adapter) only spaces the wheel away but uses the original bolts, so the bolts are exposed to higher forces.
