My 4 wheel engagement shifter has from top to bottom, 2H,4H,N,4L. The 4L is 4 wheel drive. The other gears are just not available to me. They just don't shift in! I have a '95 SE-V6. Is this normal or what? -bounce-

2H is 2 wheel drive

4 H is 4 wheel drive "high gear ration"

N- Neutral

4L is 4 wheel drive low gear ratio

Our pthy is hard to shift you also have to push down on the stick to go from neutral to 4 lo.

and back from N to 4hi sometimes.

are you stuck in 4lo then? that's not good and you shouldn't be driving anywhere till you shift it into at least 4hi. 4lo is for very hard terrain.. hills, rocks, mud.. it's NOT for pavement driving.

No, I'm not stuck in 4Lo! I was in 2H which is what I am supposed to be in for normal street driving. I read my owners manual and found out how to depress the shifter to get in other gears! Thanks to everyone for reaching out!
