Just got the Thorleys in the mail today and had a few questions.

First off, I always thought the flange should be perfectly flat. Is this not the case?

Second, I can see slight traces of rust from the welds where the 3 pipes join together. I can also see surface rust if I look through threaded bung. Anything to worry about?

The flanges that mate with the head are not flat... They are slightly raised around the exhaust ports... Use a gasket, then retorque after about 500 miles(cant remember, but its close)...

Rust??? The Chrome finishing process some times will leave reisdue... It gets dipped and a big Vat of extreamly caustic chemicals... See if you can clean it off with some windex...

I figured it was supposed to be slightly raised around the exhaust ports, but it seemed odd since I read about others having to get the flange machined flat since it came warped. :D

It may not be rust. I'll have to take a closer look. Thanks!
