power antenna

Hey guys i looked but can not find a recent post about a sticking power antenna .Mine is stuck 1/2 up and i can hear the motor i remmember something about a belt system ?

There's a plastic gear rope that pushes the antenna up and down. It's likely broken, which means you have to replace the mast and gear rope. You can get them for like $15 on eBay.

cool , can i do away with it and replace with an old school mast from the parts house ?

i busted my antenna mast last season in the snow as i tried to turn on the stereo to listen to the traffic/conditions report only to find that my antenna was frozen in place...so the little teeth got stripped off of the nylon belt thing.

 

i'm gonna go the ebay route, i don't even want to try to get a quote from the dealer. i saw a listing for $12.95 +$5 for shipping.

 

hopefully your old antenna from the garage will have a snug fit.

check the dealer, I broke mine and it cost me like $20 from nissan. I usually call and say im from joes auto and ask for the price, I tell them I will send me guy to pick it up and I get 20% off. If they ask for a resale # tel them the boss isnt here or its for an employee nd you will pay the tax, you still get 20% off

sorry for bumping the old post, but do i need to get the broken piece of the rope out of the motor?
