OE812
I have 70K miles on my pathy I bought used a few months ago. I picked up a filter kit at O'Reilly's and fluid. They didn't have the Castrol DextronIII/Mercon and the sales rep. stated that the O'Reilly's Multipurpose ATF is rated for Dextron III/Mercon. So I bought it and wanted to check with the brains on this forum to see if I made a mistake (gut feeling). Should I wait until they have the Castrol brand or is the Multipurpose ATF by O'Reilly's ok? Thanks, jeff
vengeful
Look on the bottle for the stuff you bought. Most sales reps don't know peanut butter from jelly, and couldn't tell you the first thing about their products. Make sure the bottle/jug specifically states that it is DextronIII/Mercon rated, otherwise bring it back and get the right stuff. If the cheap stuff is the right rating, it's fine to use. Personally, I use AMSOil in my diffs, tranny and t-case. It's just too expensive to use in the engine, and I change that every 3k, so it's fine.
