  1. So I got the beast almost completed. I have a few more things to wire up and I need to fab a clutch slave mount up. A 2 or 3 inch body lift would be a big help if I could find one..Im going to try to get pictures up by the end of this week. Im not too impressed with the amount of problems the 4.3 is giving me: the EGR valve keeps sticking I cleaned it couple times...i dunno..then the fuel pressure regulator needed replaced, it needs a full tune up as well but I guess thats what you get with a junkyard motor..it revs up really slow for some reason I think it might be from using the nissan fuel pump instead of the chevy one. I checked the for sale listings for a body lift n didnt find one available if anyone knows where to find one new or used let me know
  2. I have an old rv holding tank I want to use. Im going to use compressed air to to move the water and I found this really cool heat exchanger that came off a TDI Volkswagen bug its all stainless I should post a picture of it... Im getting anxious to finish this thing and go wheelin already!! I cant wait to start building the bumpers too! thats the fun part. Has anyone had good luck with the milemarker winches they're priced a lot lower than warn but I wish I knew how well they handled abuse..
  3. Im pretty much on my own. My brother helps me out now and then. the main thing holding the project up now is money...*sigh* I need to rebuild my rear axle and put electric fans in and a little bit of clutch work before I can take it out. Then I want to build custom bumpers and get a winch and lights on it, onboard air is in the works right now. I got a few other wild ideas I'll show you if I go through with them...anybody ever thought of running water on a muddin truck?! lol
  4. Yeah! I found the clip LOL. I went to a junkyard today and found the box. who ever had this pathy before me must have taken off haha...wow I feel pretty smart..
  5. I cant find the amplifier box for the front wipers!!! i found the amp for the rear wiper. I read through all the old forums, did searches, and practically dismantled my entire rig! Its pissin me off!! i read it was on the firewall or on the wiper motor Im not seening it anywhere!! #%@%#*# my pathys a 95....please help!
  6. hey home brewed creations that are made for next to nothing are the best. There are lots of things we could laugh about on my pathfinder!
  7. well i thought of that but the distance from the bellhousing to the shifter is about 6 inches shorter than the nissan tranny i already had to notch the hole for the shifter about 2 inches and modify the shifter Yeah its a junkyard flywheel! lol Im still mocking the tranny up and working on a spacer that goes between the bellhousing and tranny. Because of the combo im using there are a few custom things that I need to build to make things work.
  8. It was just for added strength. I pretty much removed all the factory cross members that the original motor and tranny used and built my own for a better fit. but like I said earlier if I do this again I would try adapting the vortec to the nissan transmission. I created a lot of extra work for myself going this route! Its all a good learning experience for sure. Heres the motor installed. I was able to use the factory throttle cable by modifying the 4.3 bracket slightly. I removed the AC system and replaced the the AC duct behind the glove compartment with a non AC duct and that gave me room to run my wiring harness into the cab. The ECU is mounted right behind the glove box. Plenty of room between the motor and radiator. Actually there is more room all around! I modified the upper radiator hose to work with the nissan radiator. My only clearance issue was at the firewall. The distributor is kind of close... Its kind of hard to see but I only have about an inch between the distributor and the firewall. The right hand exhaust manifold is close to the fuel lines and firewall as well I will need to build a heat shield for it. There really isnt much room to play with as far as the elevation of the motor because of the right side manifold. Feel free to ask me any questions Im not really sure what everyone wants to see or know about but I'll do my best to help!
  9. This is the engine cross member i put in to distribute the stress from the panhard bar and upper coil mounts. You can see some of my handy work from a BFH on the fire wall lol I was able to weld the vortec motor mounts to the existing nissan mount on the frame also the factory vortec exhaust Y pipe fits! Transmission cross member, pretty simple. Im pretty much using all the powertrain stuff from the S10 donor. I really wouldnt recommend doing it this way personally. Next time i think i'll build a bellhousing adapter plate for the nissan tranny I have more pictures coming soon of the engine installed and tranny and what not...Im not sure i want to show everyone my firewall job though its kinda crude lol
  10. the 2.8 shares the same 4 bolt, bolt pattern that attaches the tranny to the bellhousing as the old 350's. do you know much about the t 5, do they hold up to much abuse, what should i look for or avoid
  11. i never heard of the stuff...where would i find it
  12. i didnt think of ebay i'll check it out thanx
  13. wow those look great! i wonder why they discontinued them.. thanx
  14. Where does a guy find a set of wide aftermarket fender flares for a 4 door?! or has anyone had any luck with modifying a set for a truck or 2 door any help would be great! i have full width axles and im sick of filling my lap with mud everytime i forget to roll my window up!!
  15. where would i find the NV3500 is that made by new process? the tranny i have now is a borg warner
  16. I do know the 4.3 tranny doesnt have a removable bellhousing and the distance hooking the front of the bellhousing to the center of the stick is shorter than the setup i am using. I also failed to mention i made a inch and a quarter spacer to put between the tranny and bellhousing. in the next few days i'll do a detailed write up with pictures if you all promise not to laugh lol, its a home brewed creation for sure!! PS thanx for all the help and advise so for everyone!
  17. 1. how and where would i post pics 2. I will try the resistor idea its much more cost effective than the device from dakota digital. 3. My swap is probably being done in the cheapest and easiest way possible. Im using a variety of parts lol! the motor is out of a 92 s-10 its the cpi motor, its supposed to put out about 200hp. the bellhousing is the same as a 350, with that being said i found a bellhousing off an old 350, then my brother had a 5 speed out of a 2.8 s-10 laying around. I found that the four bolts that attach the transmission to the bellhousing is the same as a 350 so im using this tranny..im not sure how well it will hold up tho.. My biggest reason for using this tranny is to get my shifters back as far as possibe. I still needed to modify my trans stick to make it fit properly. My other clearence issue was the fire wall the distributor wouldnt clear so i notched it back as far as possible. I would be happy to post pics as soon as i figure out how! (I know.. damn newbies...) *mutter mutter*
  18. hey thanks! That looks like the ticket!! I really want to keep stock gauges. aftermarkets look fine but not when you had a dead gauge in your cluster!!
  19. im assuming it came with a V6 this isnt the original body i started out with a 1990 that had a vg30e then last fall i rolled it...so..i found a new body for it. It was just the body and frame. my original frame already had the sas so i just swapped the bodies
  20. Hello im new to new to the forum stuff. I dont really know what im doing...It actually took me a few days of messing around on the site to even figure out how to post a new topic. I realize there is already a few topics posted on doing a 4.3 vortec swap and the possibilities. well its definately possible! I am in the process of doing it right now on my 95 its pretty simple. My problem is I cant seem to get the tach to work right when i hook up the tach wire from the 4.3 to the nissan wiring harness its like the signal is doubled or something. The tach reads higher than it should at idle and when i rev the motor the tach shoots way up! does anyone know if there is any kind of adapter to fix this or can a resistor or diode or something be put in line to fix this any info would be great!
