  1. I have the hinges with no wing if your interested.
  2. I know that. It just goes off all the time. Like if I open the door to get something out and shut it and lock it, it goes off.
  3. '89 Pathy; alarm will not turn off. No remote, just the little switch below the radio. Is there a fuse just for it or any other way to keep it from going off. I followed the owners manual, and it was no help.
  4. Yea, sorry. Search is my friend!
  5. I see alot of you guys doing it. What is the benefit? I assume its an easy swap?
  6. I think I'm going to just go with another motor. I found one with 108k on it. I can put a T-belt on before the install and I should be good for a long while. $550.00 is what they want. Seems about average and its local in the Dallas area.
  7. this is not valve ticking. The same noise that goes away after a few seconds happens as you drive and get above 1800 rpms or so. The noise is very loud. Dont think there is any issue with rings. Absolutely no smoke, no missing, motor is responsive off idle doing little revs. Do these motors ever jump a tooth and if so, what is the result? Will one tooth off cause the pistons to hit the valves? I'm not a novice, but dont have any experience with this motor. All mine is with LSx based g.m. motors. Motor has 227k on it and the guy I bought it from acted like "whats that" when I asked him about the timing belt. I kindof leaning toward just putting a motor in. I can do the timing belt before the install and it will have lower miles hopefully. Also, if I do a motor, can I buy a '94 or '95 motor and just put my intake on? Is everything the same?
  8. Just bought an '88 for $500.00. Seller said engine was knocking. Got it home and it was 3+ qts low on oil. Put oil in and jumped it off. Rattled for about 2 seconds and cleared up. At idle it sounds normal. If you rev it a little it rattles/ knocks, but only as the rpms go up, not down. Went and drove it and as it gets above 1800 rpms or so, the engine sounds terrible. It did seem low on power too. I am prepared to put a motor in, but here is my question. Is there a chance it jumped time? It starts a little different than my '89, sort of like its out of time, but when you rev it a little; off idle to 1500 or so, it seems very responsive. Wish it had an oil pressure gauge so I could see what its running. Also, when you start it cold, the noise is there for about 2 seconds, then goes away. If I kill it and start it again, there is no noise. That makes me think it is bearing/motor related. Opinions and advise welcome.
  9. Here is a pick of my $500.00 '88 Pathfinder.
  10. Hey folks. I have posted a few other times, but thought I'd start a thread here. I now have 2 Pathfinders. Bought a '89 (seller told me it was a '90) a couple of weeks ago and today, went and bought a '88 just because it was a great deal. It may need a motor, but it was $500. Body is very straight. Interior is great for an '88. Had new tires on it too. Plans are to make the '89 a more competent off roader and make the '88 nice and use it for a daily. I am coming from nothing but G.M. stuff and even own a Performance shop specializing in LS1s. I sold Nissans new back in '93 and '94, so I know how great they are. I am trying to get one more Nissan; a mid '90s Hardbody. The plan is to put an LS1 and TH-400 in it. I just want to be different. So far, nothing but good info on here. Thanks for the advise so far. I'm sure I'll need many more questions answered. Billy
  11. I guess to me the tbi isnt "real" fuel injection, even though technically it is. I was just thinking that if I have to find a motor, and I can use a newer multi port, I would. Thanks for the info. Now I just have to find a motor.
  12. Guys, I've only owned my first PF for 2 weeks, and I'm buying another. It's an '88 and I think the motor is bad. If I get a newer, say '94ish motor, can it be swapped without much drama? I looked for a thread on this, but didnt find it. Thanks
  13. Can you tell me the breakdown? '89 was 2 door only? Was '90 2 and 4 door or one or the other. Is the rear suspension different from '89 to '90? Thanks
  14. I'm new to having a Pathfinder and have a few questions if someone could help me out. 1. Where is the best place to get the factory looking fender flares? dealer? 2. As far as raising the fron, cant you just adjust the torsion bars? 3. The rear is coil spring. What does a suspension lift include and whats the best bang for the buck? 4. What is the interlock button for in the dash? I dont have an owners manual. 5. Do the Pathfinders typically come with LSD and how can I tell? 6. What is a good place for aftermarket front bumpers? 7. What rear gear ratio is normal? Seems like it very low geared. I can be in 5th at 40mph and its not lugging it. Any help would be appreciated.
  15. Well, I didnt get that one. Just too much unknown. I found a '90 that had a ton of receipts for maint. It had a fuel leak, but after $6.00 and 15 minutes, it was up and running. Its a 4x4, 5sp. Interior is near perfect, a/c works, and it drives great. I gave $1100 for it. I'll post a pic in a day or so.
  16. just turns over. No fuel or fire. Seller said he was going down the road and it just quit. No noise when turning over. It could be something as simple as a fuel pump. I still havent made my mind up yet. I found a few others much cleaner for a good price.
  17. I found an '87 SE today for $300. Of course at that price its a little rough. Body is straight with an older repaint, good glass, 5 speed, great seats and dash, pass door panel is torn up, needs a clutch, drivers window motor is out, motor turns over, but will not start. Seller is telling me its electrical. I think its a easily a good deal at that price. I'm in Texas, so rust is not a big concern. Any opinions welcome. I am pretty sure I'm going to pick it up.
