  1. I'd second a request for some rear glass lift supports. They are mounted to the lift gate with a bracket. You can't remove the support from the bracket without cutting it off. I can't find any at the local Checker/Autozone that has the bracket with it. I went to the dealer, and they wanted $123 each! :furious: There is a Nissan/Toyota junkyard here, but I they don't have any. But let me know how much you want if you find some. Thanks.
  2. Thanks guys. That's my 2 yr old daughter sitting at the wheel of our 2001 Pathy. I figure it should just about be broken in when she turns 16.
  3. Yeah, I was going to leave it. Everything works without it. I thought it may be associated w/ an automatic tranny (I have a manual.) It just makes me wonder.
  4. Okay. Ever put together a model or something and have extra pieces left over? Then you wonder what the heck the extra pieces are for and what is going to go wrong since they weren't put in? I recently repaired my gas/temperature guage by replacing the voltage regulator. While putting the dash back together, I notice an extra electrical harness that wasn't plugged into anything. I am 95% sure it was unplugged when I took the thing apart, and there is no place to plug it in behind the instrument cluster. See the picture below and tell my what you think it is. Thanks.
  5. You guys rock. I'm just back from the test drive, and there is no rattle from the carrier. None. Zip. Nada. The only draw back is I now hear all the other little squeaks and rattles from other parts of the truck. But the loudest one is gone. Rami, you will have to try it. All I did is cut a small piece of old rubber garden hose. It was about the size of a nickel. I used a flat head screwdriver and packed it into the hinge. I flew over some speed bumps and the world is a little bit of a better place.
  6. Thanks Matterhorn and 88. I tried a chunk of rubber hose. It was easy and cheap. I'll take it for a test drive over some speed bumps this afternoon and give you guys the results.
  7. Let's get started with my first question. I read 88pathoffroad's post on Pathfinder problems. One of them was about a rattle that comes from the spare tire carrier. It is caused by the bushings not being properly lubricated, and thus they dry out and crack. In it, he says they can be replaced. My question is how. It appears to me they are not servicable because you can't take the hinge apart. Unless you cut off the pins holding the hinges together and replace them with bolts. Is this correct? I showed it to a mechanic at a local Nissan dealer, and he seemed ignorant on the subject and said I would probably have to replace the whole carrier. Any thoughts out there? Here is a pic of the hinge (from the top)
  8. I'm another new guy. I have had my first Pathfinder for 7 years now. It is another 2-door! A black 1988 SE 4x4 V6 with a manual tranny. It has over 162,500 miles now on the original transmission and engine. I am just starting to learn more and more about it trying to become a DIY guy, and that is why I've joined NPORA. I also have a 2001 Pathfinder SE 4x4. It is used more for hauling kids, and my wife drives it. Since we have 2 Pathfinders, we gave them names some my wife and I can easily distinguish which one we are talking about. My 88 is called Pepe, which is a reference to the movie Romancing the Stone. The 01 is called Dexter, from the cartoon Dexter's Labratory (My wife's favorite cartoon.) Anyway, nice to meet you all. I'll be asking lots of questions here soon. Here is a picture of Pepe.
