  1. Hi PerlNinja!

If your right foot is getting hot when you drive, it is probably a sign that you need to replace an exhaust gasket. Nissan, in their infinite wisdom, decided to join an exhaust pipe under the driver's side floorboard not far from the gas pedal.... How I found mine was I placed my Pathy on jack stands and crawled under and had my son start it, while holding my hand around the junction. I could feel the exhaust leaking from it as I moved my hand around the area. If it is not the gasket, it may be a hole in the pipe. Make sure the car is cold when you do this so you do not burn your hand. I would send you a gasket, as I had one laying around but I lost it in my last move.

Give it a try and let me know what you find?

    Take care....

  2. I would also be careful when working with the struts, I was investigating the strut mount on my 92SE and I assume that the threads on the liftgate door itself were accomplished via spot welding a nut of some type on the inside of the liftgate. I accidently applied pressure on the strut when it was partially unscrewed and the part with the threads popped off and fell inside the hollow area of the liftgate door. For years after that I resorted to using a dowel to prop the door open.... :broken:

  3. Hi Norcal200486,

Aside from the solutions above, my first Pathfinder had a lot of problems with California Smog requirements at about 230k miles. If you are unable to solve the problem on your own, California can help you with the cost of professional repair, there are specific requirements for the program, see this link, they will assist you with $500 towards the repair:

  4. When your jeep buddies stop to wait on you and you're telling them to hurry up. Oh, and when you have a metal fence post to hold up the 2 ton hatch. (Ordered replacement struts)

So true!! A late model Wrangler got stuck twice in the snow on a trail I had already negotiated in my stock 92 SE with street tires, and I used a round wood post to hold up mine!!

  5. Adam,

I was faced with slim pickings out here for a decent Pathfinder, so I was putting together a plan to upgrade one to include the Xterra trans. Well, after my son talked me into looking at the Project Pathfinder rig that was for sale at the time, you know the rest of the story!......
